Birds<\/em> was inspired by Jim Goldberg\u2019s \u201cRich and Poor\u201d, a collection of photographs of rich and poor Americans, each with a handwritten statement by the subject, thereby creating a heart gripping portrait of the USA.<\/p>\n

It was a logical step to have an ornithologist (a fictional ornithologist) portrait birds in a similar way, for they have just as much to say about the human condition. If people would only listen.<\/p>\n

I have no idea what people think of me,<\/em><\/strong>
\nI don\u2019t think much of them, that\u2019s for sure.<\/em><\/strong>
\nLife is a bitch for everyone and I\u2019m<\/em><\/strong>
\nstruggling, just like everyone else.<\/em><\/strong>
\nCompassion is a mistake and the seed<\/em><\/strong>
\nfor sloth and weakness.<\/em><\/strong>
\nAnd nobody ever offered to help me<\/em><\/strong>
\nout in any way, so why should I?<\/em><\/strong>
