E-Readers

E-readers are very comfortable to read with e-ink technology, but the display of images is not stunning.
The most common format for e-readers is epub.
Some readers can also display pdfs, but depending on the power of the reader, this can be a bit slow.

iPad, iPhone

The most common software for iPads is iBooks (or Books). With this, multimedia e-books can also be displayed and read well.

Android smartphone or tablet

As a rule, an e-book store of the manufacturer is integrated, for example Google Play.
Free reading apps for Android are, for example, Aldiko or Moon Reader.

Desktop

A wide range of reading software is now available for reading on the desktop computer. A multifunctional programme is Calibre, for example, which can also be used to convert formats or edit metadata.

MacOS: e.g. iBooks, Adobe Digital Editions, Calibre, Readium
PC: e.g. Adobe Digital Editions, Calibre, Readium (epubs with video and audio work best on the PC in Adobe Digital Editions).
