The picture book VAAL tells the story of a little boy who wants to know the secret behind his fathers mysterious cement mixing truck. The story investigates the contemporary phenomenon of urban shamanism and the age old problem with curiosity. (The title VAAL was inspired by a minor deity in a Star Trek episode.)
Johanna Thompson
Johanna Thompson studierte New Genres am San Francisco Art Institute. Ihre Praxis reicht von Sound und Performance bis hin zu Zeichnen und Schreiben. Sie ist eine Hälfte des Kunstkollektivs Umbra et Lux und Mitautorin der Publikation notes from the underground.
Adam Sinykin
Adam Sinykin hat illustrierte Bücher für Kinder und Erwachsene veröffentlicht. Er ist außerdem Mitautor eines zweibändigen historischen Atlas der Altstadt von Shanghai. Seit zwei Jahrzehnten arbeitet er als Drehbuchautor und hat Szenarien für Film und Fernsehen entworfen. Sinykin lebt derzeit in Shanghai, Los Angeles und Bologna.
